Sony Ericsson W580i comes under the walk-man series which are mainly target at the music lovers. It’s basically a sliding phone that comes in two variant color black and white. It has a TFT color display with a resolution of 176×220 pixels. It’s a quad band mobile that can operate under GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 networks. The phone can use EDGE, GSM or GPRS network based on the availability of tower and user requirements. The presence of EDGE technology is good in terms of connectivity to the internet. The device can also automatically switch from EDGE to GPRS for data transfer wherever the EDGE technology is absent.
Regarding the connectivity options, the Sony Ericsson W580i can be connected using a Bluetooth or USB or an Infrared port. However the infrared port is almost useless for a mobile that has a Bluetooth feature. It has an audio player that can only play AAC, ACC, eAAC and MP3 file formats. The video player too can play only 3GP and MPEG4 file formats. It possesses a 2 megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom and a max resolution of 1600×1200 pixels. The same camera can also be used to shoot videos anyway its not that much worthy to capture a video in a 2 megapixel phone. The phone’s memory can be extended up to 2GB to hold the photos and other multimedia files. The Lithium Ion battery has a standby time of 370 hours and a talktime of 9 hours.
